Unification of the Warring States Period
Background Guide Coming in Jan. 2020
It is my pleasure to welcome you to UCBMUN, and to the Warring States of China! My name is Samuel Gao, and it will be my honor to be your chair for this committee. In this committee, be ready for some coups, wars, betrayals, and lots of actions as you fight to become the ruler of ancient China. I am currently a Sophomore here at the University of California, Berkeley majoring in economics and either statistics or mathematics. Growing up from China, I developed an interest in history, especially Chinese history, early on. I remember most of the times, I would come home for lunch and turn on the TV to the Education and Science channel and listen to the Chinese history lectures. I enjoyed studying the political implications and relationships in history and the lessons we can learn from the past. It is my sincere hope that you may also take away valuable lessons from Chinese history and use them in your lives. I hope to see you in this Committee soon and in the meantime, best wishes for everything!
Head Chair, Unification of the Warring States Period
To the brave and the mindful, welcome to the Unification of Qin Dynasty! My name is Carol Xie and I am honored to be your crisis chair in this journey to claim China as one unified nation! In this committee, you will find yourself in a swamp of relations with commanders, politicians and opponents; can you overcome the challenges and foresee the opportunities? Well, this committee is for you if you have the heart and mind of an emperor. Personally, I am a sophomore studying Computer Science and Theater in UC Berkeley. I became extremely fascinated by Chinese history after I came to the U.S. in high school, when I found out how unique and un-copyably fascinating our history was. In my spare time, I enjoy creating artwork about my ancestry and learning astronomy to imagine human expansion into the universe. I hope to see you soon in the committee!
