The year is 1945. With a world emerging out of its second global war in three decades, a little known trade association, the International Air Transport Association, is formed. It markets itself as a consortium of the world's largest airlines, helping to move the then–nascent commercial aviation industry forward and promote safety, efficiency and passenger satisfaction. As the leaders of world's foremost airlines, your job is to battle it out in the industry for dominance over the skies and control of the market. It's capitalism at its best and nastiest; but deep within, a darker secret lurks...

Manisha Sahoo

Chair

Hello!

My name is Manisha and I'm so excited to be your Chair for the IATA at UCBMUN XXV. This will be my third UCBMUN, and I hope you're all as pumped as I am for another year of committee absurdity. This year, we want to see you kick the intensity to 100 as you battle other airlines for control of the airspace and the IATA. When I'm not inciting inter–airline warfare, I'm a junior at Cal studying public health and data science. I also edit for an on–campus public health journal and teach a class on public health journalism. In my free time, I like to constantly rewatch my favorite TV show (Psych) and waste money on fancy markers to draw in my bullet journal with. I can't wait to see you in committee and I hope you're looking forward to it.

Good luck!

Winston Purnomo

Chair

Delegates, a warm welcome to the IATA committee! My name is Winston Purnomo and I will be your Chair in this year's UCBMUN. As a travel fanatic, I'm interested in seeing how the early members of IATA will handle a foundational moment in the early days of international air travel, and what kind of alliances, deals and power struggles we can see emerge out of committee. As for me, I'm a second–year CS major originally from Indonesia, with four years of experience in MUN. In addition, I'm the co–Head of Operations, Technology and Design for this year's conference, and hold a similar position for the Indonesian Student Association. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you at UCBMUN!

Best,
Winston Purnomo
