Mahshad Badii

Hello delegates and welcome to UCBMUN XXIV! My name is Mahshad Badii and I am honored to be your chair for the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia. Personally, both of the topics covered by this committee have sparked intensive debate in my studies, travels, and even day-to-day life, and thus I am more than excited to hear you all engage in thoughtful debate and (hopefully) find diplomatic solutions over the course of this weekend. To share a little about me, I am a rising senior double majoring in Political Science and Near Eastern Languages, with an emphasis in Arabic. My academic areas of interest include religion and conflict, energy geopolitics, and international law in the MENA. In my spare time, I enjoys running, debating the intricacies of hot dog versus sandwich, and playing pool. See you all soon!

Yours,
Mahshad Badii
Chair, UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia
