Avast Ye! British and Spanish imperial officials are cracking down on the Caribbean underworld during the Golden Age of Piracy (1650–1730). Blimey! Take the helm as iconic figures such as Blackbeard and Anne Bonny navigate the treacherous waters of Caribbean politics. As European empires vie for control of the vital region, will you unite our infamous captains together to face them? Or will your endeavors end in your seizure of a beautiful bounty? After all, dead men tell no tales. Set sail on your path to the Unification of the Caribbean!

Ammar Ansari

Chair

Ahoy there, me delegates!

My name is Ammar Ansari and I will be your Chair for Unification of the Caribbean in this year's UCBMUN. If you're in for a swashbuckling adventure, then I welcome you to our committee! The history of piracy is quite fantastic, and the Caribbean has been a hotspot for pirate activity. I am thrilled to work alongside my roommate Sameer Kazim, who will be your Crisis Director for this committee. Outside of MUN, I run a human rights publication, work in Berkeley's student government known as the ASUC, and make memes for our club's Slack page. In my free time, I love to read books of any genre, experiment with cooking, and find some of the best eateries in the Bay Area. I'm looking forward to an exciting, entertaining, and substantial committee... with plenty of pirate action!

Yours,
Ammar Ansari

Sameer Kazim

Crisis Director

Yarr Mateys!

My name is Sameer Kazim and I am a second–year student at UC Berkeley. Now, if you've ever experienced Jack Sparrow's famous trilogy or Edward Kenway's high seas endeavors, you can understand my love for all things pirates. The idea of running this committee, with my wonderful Chair (and dorm roommate) Ammar, is exhilarating, and I can't wait for you all to see what is in store for all of our swashbuckling delegates. Outside of MUN, I am part of the Berkeley Mental Health Initiative, Professional Development Board, and student government known as the ASUC. I love all things food, and am on a mission to eat at every famous restaurant in Berkeley at least once in my next three years at Cal. In addition, I love comic books and movies. I could tell you the entire Star Wars timeline on the spot (no one has asked yet, still holding out though)! I can't wait to sail the Caribbean with you all at UCBMUN!

Best,
Sameer Kazim
